Wip

I'm continuing to work on this set of characters. I took a little break from the design stage to just practice some painting. I decided she felt too lifeless so i started painting a face for her.

I like part of it. I hate part of it. More to come.

Progress on some character stuff

Well i've been gone for some time and have neglected to paint at all. Naughty, naughty.

So i started designed some characters for the same concept as my previous post, I'll update the progress here.

Midnight update:
Did some more work. here is where it is at. She is from a different culture as our hero, so the color pallette needs to be different; however she needs to look cohesive with the group so I am working with a more tanned skin tone. The orange hue should tie in to the orange clothing of the group while clearly displaying that she has separate origins.

The color of the garments... NO IDEA yet. probably cool colors. Well see.

Alright last update for the night. I' didnt do much more but thought id show where the lineup is right now.

Ok so i lied.

So a couple posts back i posted a little late night sketch. It kinda sucked, but there were some ideas i had while doing it that i felt i would like to revisit later. Well i did another little sketch and i think i see some potential in this and plan to further develop this guy as a character. Here is the new sketch which i will use as my starting point.
**afternoon update** i decided to do some color variations. Im thinking ill go with the one at the top right. The idea is that this guy was once a monk. I want the orange pants to be reminiscent of shaolin, but given the years and combat hes seen they are rather dirty at this point. I think i will run with that.**ok so here is the current WIP version. Im going with the dirty monk pants.

ahem.

I've never done master copies before, but i thought i would take a look at some leyendecker stuff to improve my skin tones.

i decided to come back and tinker a little bit more. Maybe ill end up doing a full master copy of this later, we'll see.

Now its time for a lazy sunday....

A Wip

So I've been in Hawaii for the past week or so. I did not wanna lug my laptop over there, so i took a break from working. I have returned and I'm forcing myself back into working. Here is a wip of a character sketch. Its obviously quite early, but I wanted to put a copy up to document the process for myself.

Switching sleeping schedules.

Dont do it.

I was trying to get to a normal (sleep at night, wake in day) schedule. Doing this results in a very sleepy day for me, so i accidentally overwrote my photoshop file with most of my sketches from last week. Pissed.

Oh well, life goes on I'll just continue on this next week with fond memories of what would've been posted up here today. Balls.


On the upside, I did save some of my sketches in other locations so here is companion sketch i did for the bison previously posted. After playing God of War (and observing the gratuitous genitalia within) I just couldn't help myself. So once again i say: Balls.
